FINAL DESTINATION

Stop Focusing on Dying and Start Focusing on Living

In the Final Destination movies, Death always gets what it wants.

Miss your turn? Death finds you.

Cheat the system? Death finds you.

Escape the plan? Death finds you.

But what happens when Death hands you a terminal diagnosis, an expiration date, and six months to get your affairs in order?

This week's guest, Jim Logan, knows that answer better than most.

When Jim was diagnosed with Stage IV colorectal cancer, he was told he had six months to live. Terminal. One word that changed everything.

What followed were the hardest months of his life: chemotherapy, surgeries, setbacks, fear, uncertainty, and a body that barely resembled the one he had spent a lifetime building as an athlete.

Cancer took a lot from Jim.

But somewhere between the scans, surgeries, and endless appointments, he made a decision:

If he was going to die, he was going to start living first.....And that's exactly what he did.

Jim documented his journey by writing a book, Just Keep TRI-ING. He learned how to navigate life with an ostomy bag and enough moments to prove that sometimes SHIT GETS REAL. And now, just months away from the IRONMAN World Championship in Kona, Hawaii, he's chasing a goal that most people wouldn't attempt even with a clean bill of health.

And here's what struck me most about Jim:

He's not inspiring because he has cancer.

He's inspiring because of what he chose to do with the time he has.

In fact, you don't need a cancer diagnosis to learn something from his story.

Life is short.

Tomorrow isn't promised.

None of us know how much time we have left.

Most of us are waiting for the perfect time to take the trip, chase the dream, write the book, start the business, make the change, have the conversation, or take the chance.

Jim was forced to confront a reality most of us spend our lives avoiding.

And instead of focusing on dying, he started focusing on living.

Really living.

Pushing his limits.

Taking risks.

Doing the things that mattered.

Creating memories instead of excuses.

As someone who has survived cancer three times, I can tell you that I don't personally subscribe to thanking cancer for what it gave me.

But I have so much admiration for the people who can.

Jim is one of those people.

His perspective, resilience, humor, and determination are FUCKING inspiring.

His story is proof that sometimes the biggest plot twist isn't surviving a terminal diagnosis—it's discovering how much life was waiting for you on the other side of it.

If there's one thing I hope you take away from this episode, it's this:

Stop waiting.

Stop assuming you'll have more time.

Stop putting your life on hold.

Take the trip.

Sign up for the race.

Write the book.

Start the business.

Tell people you love them.

Do the thing that scares you.

Push your limits.

Because tomorrow isn't promised.

SO DO IT NOW.

If Jim's story moved you, inspired you, or gave you the kick in the ass you needed to stop waiting, consider supporting his journey to Kona and following along as he continues to prove that terminal doesn't always mean finished.

Because at the end of the day, the goal isn't to avoid death.

The goal is to make sure you truly lived first.
