Fortunately for us, Maire (pronounced like Laura...but with an M) has dedicated her life to making death a little less mysterious.
From her research on the history of anatomy and pathology to volunteering in a Medical Examiner's Office (yes...for FREE), her passion has helped countless students—and hopefully a few Plot Twist listeners—see death through a completely different lens.
One of the things that fascinated us most during this episode was learning how much of modern medicine exists because of those who came before us. While many of the methods used throughout history would horrify us today, they also paved the way for countless medical advancements that continue saving lives.
And perhaps that's the biggest Plot Twist of all...
The dead still teach us.
